Woman Entrepreneur who turned a personal problem into a professional solution

There is nothing that is impossible to do. Debdatta Upadhyay, who has faith in this principle, is ready to find a solution to every difficult situation. Debadatta Upadhyay is the co-founder and CEO of Timesaverz.com, an online portal. The company provides good and verified home services like repairing and cleaning home appliances, service pest control management assistants as well as home salon services at every doorstep.

Online home services have been one of the fastest-growing categories in the last few years. From horizontal to vertical across geographies, from leadership-based to fulfillment-based business models, from marketplace to full stack operations, each category is witnessing great stable use evidence.

Struggling to find and manage domestic help? Bothered by cleanliness, clogged plumbing, or pest attacks? These are just a few of the real or frustrating problems faced by working couples, single working fathers and mothers, or anyone living in a fast-paced metro city. However, these issues are no more poor planning and nightmare calculations.

The reason? A simple idea conceptualized by a working mother who was suffering from such troubles. They came up with a great solution: Timesavers. Debdatta Upadhyay co-founded the start-up along with his colleague Lavneesh Bhatia. Home-service enterprises provide professional assistance for a range of household chores, on-demand 24×7 online. Within a short span of time, the service appeared with such high demand and positive response, that TimeSavers has established its branches in Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, and Chennai.

Debdutta was born in the city of Rourkela, Odisha to an HR specialist father and an educationist mother. He spent his formative years there; And then in the late nineties, the family moved to Bhilai in Chhattisgarh. After completing her graduation, she moved to Nagpur where her professional journey began. After her marriage, being a student of journalism, she developed a media sales profile. He has also appeared in Times of India, and Yahoo! India and has served at the top level in firms like Vadopia Inc.

Lavnish Bhatia, co-founder of TimeSavers, a colleague at Vadopia, and an entrepreneur shared the same error as Debdatta. They both sensed a huge business opportunity promising the on-demand home services market. They both quit their comfortable, corporate jobs to pursue entrepreneurship. Always inclined towards entrepreneurship and with a combined experience of 30 years in marquee advertising and media companies, Debadatta and his partner Lavneesh finally understood the true reason behind starting their business as TimeSavers in July 2012. The company started its operations in April 2013 and started helping people organize their household chores meticulously.

TimeSavers was funded by Neville Taraporevala, Rajesh Sawhney, Ashish Jhalani, and Nitesh Kriplani, among other contestants. In 2015, TimeSavers raised $2.3 million in funding from Unilazer Ventures. Re-training to maintain a continuous efficient service experience and provide desired standardized services efficiently is a challenge for the unorganized sector.

Despite the tremendous growth, the company has seen many tumultuous and challenging times. Building a team that will make a languishing home services business exciting and at the same time learning to focus with a blinding eye on unit economics while all the competitors around you are waging a whirlwind war of advertising is what TimeSaver is all about. The biggest challenges were

Debdatta always followed the teachings of his parents to “do the best in whatever we endeavor”. And also her husband's support and motivation, "We should try our best instead of regret to chase our dreams." When Debdutta took charge of the Entrepreneurship Front, he got full support from his family.

Now he has no room for any other project. All their projects revolve around the timesaver. For them, the genesis of development lies in a strong educational system. She believes that it is very important to encourage everyone to pursue the best education.

Taking the example of Debadatta Upadhyay and TimeSaver as inspiration, motivate yourself and leave your comfort zone and do what you want to do and what is right for you.
