In the year 2018, she retired as the CEO of PepsiCo.

This book by Indra Nooyi is a memoir, in which she recounts all the events from childhood to becoming the CEO of PepsiCo.
Her name has been on the list of 'world's influential women' by the famous magazine Forbes for many years in a row. In the year 2014, she was ranked 13th on this list of Forbes.
Indra Nooyi is a Successor Fellow at Yale Corporation, a Level B Director of the Board of Directors of the New York Federal Reserve, and a member of the Board of Catalyst and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.
She is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Eisenhower Fellowship. She has also served as Chairman of the US-India Business Council.
Indra Nooyi was awarded the Padma Bhushan Award in the year 2007 by the Government of India.
In 2018, she was awarded the World's Best CEO Award by CEOWORLD magazine.
Her name has also appeared twice in Time magazine's list of '100 Most Influential People in the World.
Indra Nooyi believes that in order to attract good employees to the company, there should be a good atmosphere in the company. There should be progress for the employees, only then do people get motivated to work.

Early Life
Indra Krishnamurthy Nooyi was born on 28 October 1955 in a Tamil family in Madras City (present-day Chennai) Tamil Nadu.
Her father was an officer in 'The State Bank of Hyderabad'. Her grandfather was the District Judge.
Her early education took place at the Holy Angels Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School in Madras. She obtained her bachelor's degree in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from Madras Christian College in the year 1974.
Then she joined the Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata, from where she did her post-graduation in management in the year 1976.
She did a summer internship at the Department of Atomic Energy in Bombay. She also did an internship at Booz Allen Hamilton.
Indra Nooyi started her career in India as a Product Manager at Johnson & Johnson Company. She also worked with the textile firm 'Metter Birdsall'.

Receptionist jobs with education in the USA
In the year 1978, Indra Nooyi joined the famous Yale University in America where she studied 'Public and Private Management'.
From here she obtained a master's degree in public and private management in the year 1980.
When she was studying at Yale, she also worked as a receptionist on the night shift. She did this job with the intention of raising money to buy a Western suit for her first job interview.

Was uncomfortable in a Western suit, didn't get selected for the first interview
When Indra Nooyi was going to give a job interview for the first time in America, she did not have a business suit. She bought a dark blue polyester two-button jacket and matching slacks with all of his $50 savings.
She wanted to try on the clothes but did not do so as she had never used the changing room before. This was the first biggest expense of her life.
On the day of the interview, when Indra Nooyi got ready for the interview, she found that her jacket was too big and her slacks were too small. But this was not the time to exchange clothes.
For the interview, she also added a turquoise-colored polyester blouse to this outfit, which had vertical stripes of light blue and dark blue color.
When she reached for the interview, everyone there was laughing at her. Due to this she was feeling very uncomfortable.
After her interview, she left the interview hall and went straight to her career development director, Jan Morrison, and explained her problem.
When Jane asked her what she would wear if she was in India, she replied Saree. On this, her director advised her to wear a saree next time. Also, she told Indra Nooyi that if she does not give you a job then it will be her loss. Be what you are.
She did not get selected for that interview. After this, on the advice of her professor, she wore a saree in the next interview, in which she felt very comfortable and got selected easily.

Before PepsiCo
In the year 1980, after completing her management studies at Yale, she decided to work in America only.
Indra Nooyi then joined the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where she worked as a consultant for 6 years.
Between 1986-90, she served as the Vice President of Corporate Strategy at Motorola Company and took over the development of Motorola's automotive and industrial electronics.
She held the position of executive in the engineering company Asia Brown Bowery (ABB).

Career in PepsiCo
Indra Nooyi joined PepsiCo Company in 1994 as Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Development.
When she joined PepsiCo, none of America's 500 largest companies had a female CEO.
In the year 2001, she was made the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) of the company and in the year 2006, she reached the position of President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company.
In 2006 there were 11 female CEOs in the US. Indra Nooyi was the 5th and first female CEO of PepsiCo.
Indra Nooyi is counted among the most renowned CEOs in the world. Under her leadership, PepsiCo's revenue increased from $35 billion in 2006 to $63.5 billion in 2017.
Almost all her strategies to take PepsiCo forward were successful. She is considered the architect of PepsiCo's long-term growth strategy, under which she directed the company's global strategy for more than a decade.
Indra Nooyi also led the restructuring of PepsiCo, including the acquisition of Tropicana (1998) and the merger of Quaker Oats Company (2001).
She took retirement in October 2018 after successfully holding the post of CEO for 12 years.
In February 2018, the International Cricket Council inducted Indra Nooyi as the first independent woman on the ICC board.
Indra Nooyi joined the Amazon board in 2019.

Personal Life
At the age of 25, Indra Nooyi married businessman Raj Nooyi. They have two daughters, the elder daughter's name is Tara Nooyi and the younger daughter's name is Preeta Nooyi.
Her elder sister Chandrika Krishnamurthy Tandon is a famous singer and entrepreneur.
