Early Life

Vani Kola was born in Hyderabad (now Telangana). In studies, she was a meritorious student since childhood.

Her early education was at a school near home. Then she completed her graduation in Electrical Engineering from Osmania University, Hyderabad. Where Vani Kola was one of the six girls out of 400 engineering students.

This was the period in India when it comes to girl child, more emphasis was given to teaching them kitchen work before studies.

In the late 1980s, she moved to the United States to pursue a master's degree in engineering from Arizona State University.

Known as a Serial Entrepreneur

Vani Kola started her early career in Silicon Valley. She was associated with Silicon Valley for 22 years. She was known there as a serial entrepreneur.

In the early days of her career, she founded the e-procurement company Rightworks and made it successful with her own strength. Then after 4 years, she sold this company to ICG for $657 million.

At that time this deal was one of the biggest sales deals done by an Indian woman in Silicon Valley. Vani Kola was also the CEO and founder of another company Certus Software during this period.

Establishment of Kalari Capital

She co-founded Indo-US Venture Partners (IUVP) in 2006 along with Vinod Dham. A partnership with New Enterprise Associates (NEA), this was their initial venture into venture capital in India.
