India's youngest commercial pilot at the age of 19, Maitri Patel

It is not just that dreams get wings, before taking flight one has to face the test of passion and strong intentions. Success or failure depends on a person's mindset only. The paths chosen only for pressure or for the happiness of loved ones are often not fixed and even if they are, then where are you in that? We can also apply a true passion for those dreams which are our own or have been chosen by us.

It may be difficult to achieve the destination, but if the intention is strong, even a cyclone cannot become an obstacle.

Maitri Patel, daughter of a farming family from Surat, Olpad area, earned the distinction of becoming India's youngest woman commercial pilot by training in the US.

Maitri's journey to become a commercial pilot was not easy at all. Even after being financially weak, her father did not let his daughter's courage fall but stood firm like a stone. Friendship also did not disappoint him at all. She is the only child of her parents.

Who is Maitri Patel?

Maitri's father Kantilal Patel, a native of Sherdi village in Olpad area and living in the Ghoddaur Road area of the city, is a farmer as well as an employee in the Municipal Corporation of Surat. Her mother is working in the Health Department of Surat Municipal Corporation.

When the airline started from Surat to Delhi, she boarded the plane for the first time. When she saw the plane and the pilot for the first time, since then the desire to become a pilot had awakened in her mind. At the same time, when her father asked her to become a pilot, she became even more determined.

Maitri completed her schooling at Metas Adventist School in Surat. She started training in Mumbai during her 12th standard in school. After that, she went to the United States of America to complete her training.

Going from Surat to America was not that easy, the biggest problem was where would the money come from to pay the course fees.

Maitri's father Kantilal Patel had a big contribution in making her daughter a pilot.

To fulfill Maitri's dream, when father Kantilal Patel went to the bank for a loan, she had to return disappointed. Her father wanted to see his daughter's dream come true by any means.

Then what, when her father did not see any other option, then he sold his ancestral land to pay the expensive fees of the daughter's course.

With her father's strong efforts, Maitri flew to America for pilot training.

Due to the enthusiasm and determination of Maitri, her hard work paid off and she completed her 18 months of training within 11 months.

Generally, training to fly a commercial aircraft is completed in 18 months. When someone could not complete the training even in 18 months, then 6 months of training are extended for them. But Maitri completed her training to become a commercial pilot in only 11 months.

After this, her name license was also issued in America itself.

After the completion of pilot training, Maitri called her father to America. She also took a flight with her father at an altitude of 3500 feet.

Maitri is called by her parents as Shravan. According to Hindu beliefs, Shravan Kumar is considered an ideal son.

Maitri will need a separate license to fly as a 'commercial pilot' in India. She will start training soon.

Maitri is gradually increasing the scope of her dreams, she now wants to fly as Captain Boeing in the future and she is going to start her training soon for this too.
