The world wants to break your courage by showing the shortcomings or evils within you, but it depends on us whether we keep feeling ashamed after seeing the shortcomings shown by them or break the shortcomings shown by them with our courage or our morale.

Since childhood, her neck has been bent due to which she had to face various kinds of jokes many times. She received job rejections 7 times, due to which her courage wavered and she even thought of committing suicide. 

But those who have strong intentions, remain steadfast even in defeat. And would die only after reaching their destination.

Radhika Gupta proved that physical disability is just a mindset. If your thoughts are high and you have capability, then you are decisive.

Radhika Gupta is the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Edelweiss Mutual Fund.

She appeared as a judge and investor in the reality show Shark Tank of India Season 3, aired on SonyLiv.

Early Life

Radhika Gupta was born on 14 September 1983 in Islamabad, Pakistan. Her father, diplomat Yogesh Gupta, served as an Indian Foreign Service officer. Due to this, she grew up on many continents.

Her mother Aarti Gupta is a school principal. Her ancestral home is Gangoh, Uttar Pradesh.

Radhika Gupta's neck remained bent due to some birth-related complications.

She lived with her family on four continents namely Asia (India and Pakistan), Africa (Nigeria), America, and Europe (Italy).

Education

Radhika Gupta's early education started at Marymount International School, Rome.

As Radhika Gupta grew older, she was not able to participate in sports and other traditional activities like her classmates.

While in Nigeria, she attended the American International School. Her classmates were from wealthy families and had expensive hobbies such as horse riding. 13-year-old Radhika Gupta, on the advice of her parents, left expensive sports and showed interest in a game called bridge.

During her schooling in Nigeria, she found a kind of solace that made her feel uncomfortable there.

She received a degree in Management and Technology from the Jerome Fisher Program, at the University of Pennsylvania.

She received her BSc in Computer Science Engineering and Applied Science from the School of Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania. In the year 2005, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Livelihood

Radhika Gupta would hesitate because of her bent neck. But with time she learned to accept her flaws.

At the age of 22, her 7th job application was rejected. After which she thought of committing suicide.

Due to her increasing depression, she was taken to a psychiatric ward.

In an interview, she said that her interview with a senior officer in McKinsey job interview lasted for about 90 minutes. And during that time only the bridge was talked about for 85 minutes. Senior partner Diana was a bridge champion herself, having participated in several tournaments. Attracted by the young girl who had been playing bridge since the age of 13, she hired Radhika Gupta.

Radhika Gupta's career started with Microsoft, McKinsey & Company. She also served as International Corporate Affairs Officer at AQR Capital Management.

She came to India at the age of 25. In 2009, she co-founded her own asset management firm with her husband and friend, Forefront Capital Management.

Her company was acquired by Edelweiss Financial Services Limited in the year 2014.

Radhika Gupta was working as the head of Edelweiss Multi Strategy Funds Management Pvt. Ltd. Her roles were in setting strategic direction, investment, sales, and distribution.

She assisted in the acquisition of Ambit Alpha Fund and the acquisition of JPMorgan Mutual Fund in 2016. In 2017, she oversaw JPMorgan Mutual Fund and its integration into Edelweiss.

She made significant contributions to building Edelweiss into a strong retail financial brand.

In 2017, at the age of 34, Radhika Gupta took over as the CEO of Edelweiss Mutual Fund.

In 2019, they launched India's first corporate bond exchange (ETF) traded fund.

She contributed to the significant growth in Assets Under Management from ₹6.5 crore as of March 31, 2017, to over ₹1.20 lakh crore as of January 31, 2023.

In the year 2020, she was promoted to the post of MD and CEO.

Radhika Gupta was an influential person on the board of the Association of Mutual Funds (AMFI). She served as Vice President for two consecutive terms from 2021 to 2023. She aided industrial growth and innovation with her insight and leadership.

She has not only created a market niche with an emphasis on transformational and client solutions but has also helped Edelweiss Mutual Fund position itself as a top-tier performer. Edelweiss was ranked 30th in March 2017 and reached 13th position in September 2023.

Her book “Limitless: The Power of Unlocking Your True Potential” is published by Hachette.

Appeared in Reality Show

Radhika Gupta appeared as an investor in SonyLiv's reality show Shark Tank of India, Season 3.

On the show, she shared her passion for entrepreneurship and investing in emerging businesses.

She tweeted and shared that joining the show Shark Tank gave her enthusiasm and commitment to supporting new emerging businesses in a personal capacity.

Her authenticity and storytelling made a deep impact online. Her video “The Girl with a Broken Neck” has over 301k views.

Personal Life

Radhika Gupta married Nalin Moniz. They have a son named Remy Moniz.

Radhika Gupta provides financial education to people through programs and podcasts.

Radhika Gupta gives credit for her success to her father. Who inspired them and gave them wings to fly high.

Her father grew up in a village in UP and stood 7th in his civil services examination. Her father's advice to him was that every generation must take a giant leap out of poverty.

She also always remembered her mother's teachings, her mother advised her to be true to herself.
